The Alaska Music Educators Association is the local affiliate of MENC: The National Association for Music Education.  We are a group of concerned and involved music teachers working to positively impact the direction of music education to the benefit of students across the state of Alaska.

     A quote from our former AMEA President:

    "As a member of MENC you also become a member of the Alaska Music Educator Association. As a member of AMEA, you can, personally, affect what is happening in music education. We need you to become active in the AMEA." ".....We now need everyone who is a member to contact, question, encourage and push music teachers in your districts to also become active in AMEA by becoming members of MENC. We especially need a strong organization now because of the increased mandatory rates to the school district contributions to the TRS programs. This is putting shortfalls on all the Alaskan schools. Who knows how this will play out in the coming year for all the arts programs."
